HHCA provides a unique opportunity to meet people in the honors college from a variety of backgrounds, majors, and interests. Joining your residential council is a great way to meet other honors students in your dorm and plan creative programming. Campus councils provide a way to meet students interested in the same topics, engage outside the classroom, and gain academic and professional skills and resources.
Why join HHCA?
HHCA is a family. We come for the event planning and stay for the inspiring people we meet.
Leadership and professional development are crucial to HHCA.
Members start off gaining direct leadership skills and can even hold leadership positions as freshmen. This is important to our philosophy of facilitative leadership. Members learn how to be collaborative and facilitative as leaders. Programming skills learned from event planning directly translate into experience for future campus and professional roles.
Students have creative control over what events they're interested in and would like to plan.
In addition to their own events and those planned by other councils, members can get involved in a variety of events like our ice skating night, etiquette dinner, study abroad information session, political fireside chat, and freshmen welcome events. These events bring together honors students all over campus, and bring in engaging and distinguished speakers.
